About our Scientific Advisory Boards
AEHS Foundation Board Members: Setting the Standard in the Industry
AEHS Foundation takes immense pride in our exceptional board members, whose qualifications and dedication set the standard in the industry. With a focus on advanced education and professional credentials, our board composition reflects our commitment to excellence.
Our Scientific Advisory Boards (SABs) play a pivotal role in shaping the Foundation's programs and initiatives. These influential boards engage in a multitude of essential activities to ensure the success of our conferences. They diligently review abstract submissions, meticulously evaluating the quality and relevance of each proposal. By pinpointing emerging topics of interest and concern, our SABs curate programming that addresses the most pressing issues facing the industry. Additionally, our SABs recommend speakers for special sessions and luncheons, enriching our conferences with thought-provoking perspectives. They also play a crucial role in recognizing excellence within the environmental profession by nominating deserving individuals for our prestigious annual AEHS achievement awards.
Remarkably, over 80% of our esteemed board members hold advanced degrees, showcasing their deep expertise and specialized knowledge. More than 50% of our board members maintain licensures and professional credentials, demonstrating their ongoing commitment to staying at the forefront of their respective fields.
Supporting the Next Generation of Environmental Professionals
Members are also committed to supporting the next generation of environmental professionals. Several of our board members serve on AEHS scholarship committees and act as judges and mentors for students participating in the student poster competitions held at each conference. Their guidance and expertise provide invaluable support to aspiring young talents.
Fostering an Inclusive and Equitable Environment
As a women run organization, diversity and representation are core values at the AEHS Foundation. In an industry historically dominated by men, we are proud to share that over 30% of our members on both the East and West Coast Scientific Advisory Boards are women. We celebrate this achievement and are dedicated to further increasing the number of women in our ranks, fostering an inclusive and equitable environment.
